4 Courses Required

This comprehensive 330-hour comprehensive ESOL-to-workforce program is designed to support intermediate English language learners transitioning into healthcare training to become Phlebotomy Technicians. The program consists of three parts:

Part 1: Phlebotomy ESOL (90 hours)

Part 2: 

a) Phlebotomy Bridge (90 hours)

b) Phlebotomy Supplemental ESOL (30 hours)

Part 3: Externship (120 hours - full time schedule)

 

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: This program is funded by the Good Jobs grant for students who are eligible. Eligibility will be determined upon application review.

 

Prerequisites

  • Place into ESOL level 5 or above on the Community ESOL Assessment. This assessment may be waived for current ESOL students upon review of End of Semester Recommendation form from most recent instructor.

    • Students who are not English language learners with limited language proficiency and can place into ENG 101, are encouraged to apply to the stand-alone Phlebotomy Technician program

  • Complete Medical forms with your Primary Care Provider.

  • High school diploma or GED/HiSET certificate. Must be obtained by the last day of class.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. 

 

Registration

STEP 1 Collect your required documents (including the Community ESOL Assessment results/ End of Semester Recommendation form from your instructor, immunization form, and physical exam form). 

 

STEP 2 Submit required forms via email to AlliedHealth@rcc.mass.edu with the following subject line: "First Name, Last Name: Program Name, Semester". Please note that all required documents must be included in one single email submission. Emails with incomplete and missing forms will not be considered to move forward. *This email address is not for inquiries. Only document submissions will be reviewed. 

Example of Subject Line: "Jane Smith: Medical Assistant, Summer 2026"

 

STEP 3 Applicants who have completed all the requirements will be invited to submit the application for the program (located on the Certificate page). Your application will be processed, and you will be enrolled to each course upon approval.

*The deadline to submit all the required documents for this program is May 22nd.

Please remember that there are 3 courses and an externship to be completed for the ESOL Bridge to Phlebotomy program. You will need to complete all three components and the externship

  • CPR/AED Certification (must be completed before the completion of the classes).

  • CORI and SORI background check (must be completed before the completion of the classes).
