4 Courses Required

This comprehensive 320-hour program will introduce students to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. Topics include: Preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, the cardiac life cycles, ethics and the legal aspects of healthcare, pharmacology, electrocardiography, and the use of an EKG machine with proper lead placement. This program includes taking the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam, which is a requisite for certificate completion.

Part 1: EKG Techniques (28 hours)

Part 2: Phlebotomy Techniques (64 hours)

Part 3: Clinical Techniques (68 hours)

Part 4: Externship (160 hours - full time schedule)

 

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE is available for students who are eligible. We currently have ETF Lite Funds for tuition assistance for the Summer and Fall semesters. These funds are available until fully exhausted or until September 2025 (whichever comes first). It is in your best interest to complete your application as soon as possible, in order to secure your financial assistance. The program application has a section dedicated to determine eligibility. Prerequisites

  • Place into ENG 099/101 or above on the Workforce Development Placement Exam. This exam may be waived upon review of your college transcript.

  • Complete Medical forms with your Primary Care Provider and obtain medical clearance from CastleBranch.

  • High school diploma or GED/HiSET certificate. Must be obtained by the last day of class.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. 

 

Registration

STEP 1 Collect your required documents (including the placement exam scores, immunization form, and physical exam form). 

 

STEP 2 Applicants must attend an Application Workshop in order for the Program Manager to review the status of your documents. If the forms are satisfactory, you will receive instructions and a PIN to create a CastleBranch account. Applicants will upload their medical forms via the CastleBranch platform. Once cleared, you will download a "Summary Report". This is to be uploaded in the "Medical Clearance" section of your application. 

Students are welcome to attend Application Workshop for questions and assistance as well. 

 

STEP 3 Complete and submit your program application.

 

STEP 4 The status of your application will be modified upon review. Students will either receive an "Approved" or "In progress" status. 

  • Approved: You may move forward to enrolling into the course section that you prefer on the CSA 306 - Medical Assistant 1: EKG Techniques course pagePlease remember that there are three courses to be completed for the Medical Assistant program. You will need to register for the same schedule (morning or evening) for the Phlebotomy Techniques and Clinical Techniques courses. 

  • Incomplete: You must correct any errors or provide any missing information specified by the Program Manager. 

*The last day to enroll for this program is three weeks before the class start date.
