SBT 004 - BUILDING AUTOMATION SYSTEM PART 3: Networking & Integration, Startup & Commissioning
Course Description
This advanced course focuses on the complexities of networking, integrating, and commissioning building automation systems (BAS). Students gain a comprehensive understanding of BAS communication protocols, system startup, and commissioning processes, preparing them for real-world applications in the field.
Student Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Explain fundamental networking concepts, including topologies, protocols, and media types, and their applications in BAS networks.
- Understand and apply industry standards and protocols, including LonWorks, BACnet, and Niagara AX, to integrate BAS components.
- Demonstrate proficiency in BAS startup and commissioning processes, including project submittals, equipment startup, and test and balance procedures.
- Design, install, and commission a complete BAS, following provided drawings and specifications.
- Maintain accurate as-built documentation and implement change order processes during system installation and commissioning.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders during all phases of a BAS project.
