Course Description

This course offers students hands-on experience with practical wiring and technical exercises through specialized benchtop training equipment for building automation system controls. Students will work with industry-standard devices and technologies, providing them with essential, real-world exposure to the tools and systems commonly used in building controls.

Course Outline

Classes are in-person Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30PM - 9:30PM

 

Learner Outcomes

  • Develop a strong understanding of relay logic, key electrical concepts, and standard control architectures and sequences.
  • Master essential wiring practices in alignment with the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Learn the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in a technical setting.
  • Gain familiarity with building operation software environments and the software objects that support facilities operations and maintenance.
  • Apply electrical concepts to design, build, measure, maintain, and implement real-world circuits used in building automation systems.

Prerequisites

  • High School Diploma / HiSET / or GED
  • Complete RCC Workforce Development Placement Exam
