Course Description

CSA 808 01 Advanced ESL Writing and Reading

This course is designed for non-native English-speaking students with high-intermediate proficiency in reading and writing. It focuses on improving students’ grammar usage, broadening their vocabulary, enhancing their interpretive reading strategies, and improving their academic writing. Through the use of a broad range of texts, students study the conventions of academic writing along with a review of grammar and prose mechanics. In this course, we teach students to state opinions, provide facts to support their opinions and compare and contrast information.

Prerequisites

Placement into levels 6 or 7 by an appropriate test score, or teacher’s recommendation (after level 5).
