CSA 305 - Medical Assistant 2: Phlebotomy Techniques
Course Description
This course covers thorough training in phlebotomy techniques, including venipuncture and capillary puncture. Students learn proper vein selection, needle insertion, blood collection, and specimen handling. Safety protocols, infection control, and patient communication skills are emphasized. Additionally, students gain familiarity with phlebotomy equipment, specimen processing, and quality assurance principles. This course is part one of four program components:
Part 1: EKG Techniques (28 hours)
Part 2: Phlebotomy Techniques (64 hours)
Part 3: Clinical Techniques (68 hours)
Part 4: Externship (160 hours - full time schedule)
