CSA 411 - Certified Nursing Assistant
Course Description
This comprehensive course includes 54 hours of classroom instruction and 21 hours of clinical training at a long term care facility. The program will introduce you to the clinical responsibilities of a Certified Nursing Assistant. Topics include: Basic nursing concepts and principle, medical terminology and documentation, legal and ethical aspects of healthcare, patient rights and dignity. This program includes taking the Massachusetts Certified Nurse Assistant exam, which is a requisite for course completion.

Registration
STEP 1: Determine if you are eligible for the City of Boston Grant.
To be eligible, you must:
- Not already possess a college degree.
- Complete the COB Grant Program Contract.
- Be a Boston resident. One document from each of the following categories must be provided for proof of residency.
- Category 1: One of the following is required.
- Mortgage statement
- Property tax statement
- Property deed
- Homestead Exemption
- Lease Agreement (first page & signature page)
- If you do not own a home or have a lease in your name, please include a letter from your landlord, parent or guardian confirming you are a resident in their abode.
- Category 2: One of the following is required. You may blank out account numbers, balances, and amounts due/paid.
- Heating bill (oil, gas, electric)
- Electric bill
- Phone bill
- Bank statement
- Credit card bill
- Cable bill
- Car insurance coverage page
- Car registration with no stickers
- MA Driver's License or ID with no stickers
- Voter Registration
- Category 1: One of the following is required.
Students who are not eligible for the COB grant can register for upcoming semesters when they become available.
STEP 2: Determine if you satisfy the program prerequisites.
Registration requirements include:
- Placing into ENG 099/101 or above on the Workforce Development Placement Exam.
- Complete medical forms along with your Primary Care Provider:
- Immunization Form (within 6 months)
- Physical Exam Form (within 1 year)
- High school diploma or GED/HISET
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
*Space is limited. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until programs are filled and are prioritized based on the submission of all required documents. These documents must be submitted and approved by the Program Manager no later than two weeks prior to the course start date. Students that do not meet the grant eligibility and the registration requirements will be dropped from the course for the Spring semester.
STEP 3: Register for class.
- Select an available section to expand for schedule information.
- Click "Register" button for the section that you desire.
- Follow checkout steps to complete registration.
STEP 4: Prepare required documents.**
The Program Manager will send a follow up email listing your next steps and save the dates for a mandatory info session and orientation. You will be instructed to submit all your documents for review at this time.
STEP 5: Upload approved medical forms into CastleBranch.
Instructions and a personalized code will be sent to you after all your required documents have been cleared by the Program Manager. Student will work on any additional information that is requested until CastleBranch provides a "Complete" status.
STEP 6: Purchase program materials and textbook.

STEP 7: Attend mandatory orientation.
**Students will need to complete a CORI and SORI background checks in order to start the clinical component. Students will also need to be BLS Healthcare CPR certified by the start of clinical.
